Frequently asked questions

You still have questions? Please read our FAQ's or come see us at our practice!
  • A deep bite is when the upper incisors cover more than 2 mm of the lower incisors in the closed position. This very common discrepancy affects nearly 70% of the population. It can lead to tooth wear, gum irritation and jaw joint problems.

  • Overbite is when the upper teeth are significantly more prominent than the lower teeth when closed. It can be hereditary or even caused by bad habits in childhood (tongue thrusting, finger sucking).

No! That is a very sweeping statement and therefore lacks medical basis. Each case should be evaluated individually. The fact is that many cases (malocclusions) can be treated with aligners, but there are some, mostly severe, that require alternative orthodontic treatment.

16+ years
JustSmile aligner treatments are suitable for individuals aged 16 and above who no longer have any milky teeth.

Pregnancy
Aligner treatment can also be carried out during pregnancy. However, due to radiation exposure, it is not recommended to undergo an X-ray while pregnant. The X-ray is typically only needed at the beginning of the treatment for planning purposes.

There may be other medical reasons why JustSmile advises against aligner treatment or may decline to treat certain patients.

    Share the FAQ

The duration of your aligner treatment depends on the misalignment of your teeth. Our dentist can give you an approximate number in months once your treatment plan is finalized. Most aligner treatments only last between 3 and 14 months.
